Eden Drive-In, Kingsway Cinema, Badin Road Drive-In and the Rockingham Theatre are privately owned and operated by Dave and Judy Robertson, local residents of Rockingham County.  Dave and Judy first reopened the Rockingham Theatre in Reidsville, North Carolina (Rockingham County) over ten years ago.  Dave then found the old Eden Drive-In and decided it was time to refurbish and open it.  With the opening of the drive-in they expanded their philosophy of providing the "best entertainment value in the Piedmont Triad™" for families.

To satisfy those seeking accuracy, the current Eden Drive-In was originally the Leakesville Drive-In.  A second drive-in previously located near the current Eden Mall site was home of the original Eden Drive-In.  I have other information, but have not verified it so I dare not publish it yet.  However, if you write me with your stories of the Rockingham Theatre or any of the Rockingham County drive-ins, I will consider publishing the stories.  Contact me by clicking here.

By the way, a third drive-in, the Midway Drive-In was once located in the Wentworth area.  The concession stand and projection booth still stand near the corner of NC 87 and NC 65.  The screen was recently torn down.  Dave considered reopening this drive-in before the screen was torn down, but was unsuccessful in negotiations with the property owner.  Luckily I found an old poster that had been used for the Midway Drive-In in the back of the Rockingham Theatre.  Both the Rockingham Theatre and the Midway Drive-In were once owned by Mr. W. Hendrix of Reidsville.  I believe the poster had been originally used for the Rockingham Theatre and the Midway Drive-In tickets were pasted over the Rockingham Theatre name.

With all the fun they were having Dave and Judy started looking at additional drive-in opportunities.  Their search had them looking all around Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.  In 2002 Dave and Judy purchased the Badin Road Drive-In in Albemarle.  They have now added a lot of the special touches to this drive-in that make their theatres so special.

When news arrived that the Kingsway 4 Cinema had closed in Eden Dave wanted to give back to Eden what they had lost.  He immediately began looking for ways to reopen the theatre.  And now the Kingsway has joined the tradition of providing the "best entertainment value in the Piedmont Triad™" for families.

Hopefully Dave and Judy will keep the Eden Drive-In, Kingsway Cinema, Badin Road Drive-In and the Rockingham Theatre open for years to come, providing a nostalgic look at value entertainment.

As for the website, I created and maintain the website free for the drive-in in the interest of promoting my favorite hobby:  hanging out at the drive-in.  Even from my new home in Tennessee I stay in close contact with Dave, Judy, Tim, and the gang.  And who knows?  On some starry Saturday night you may find me venturing back down to North Carolina to enjoy the best mix of Southern Hospitality, movies, food, and humor with my friends.

This website is not directly affiliated with the theatres.  As such, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of information provided by the website.  If you have any comments or suggestions for the website, please feel free to contact me.
